Generations

Ambivalent Sundays of autumn
each with forsaken agenda
rain where sun threatened
wind where dead calm prevailed,

and the aimless melismas of children
hoarding deciduous treasures
brilliant leaves
acorns
find no appointment for me

the wall between generations is natural
angels observe and learn without pedagogy
learning by being
being with autumnal sticks
and eyes watchful for disturbances
on landscape

seascape
homescape

watchful for the glint of madness
in parent’s eyes

ambivalent madness

pain where joy threatened
rage where calm prevailed

and the children go on hoarding
hoarding in the autumn
breathing to the bottoms of their chests.
