In Memoriam
I live now in a land of new constellations
so flooded with stars that the Zodiac
lost its way
the brilliance of this summit
rich reward for simple observation
tells me: “be still”
stop wandering
stop striving
I wanted to bring my meteoric friend here
to the serenity of the mountain
to lose his way
to forget history
to configure constellations of his own
spirits
beings
who would reveal themselves to him
not to the prisoners of intellect
gazing up through their astronomical lenses
I wanted to listen for the choruses of northern lights
as you dear one had listened
in your travels
to brides
to babes
people of the earth
voices on mountaintops
drums in the woods
will you now join me still…
in some form?
shall I wait for a meteor?
or will you emerge in a vast constellation
just being born?
